Meet Dr. Yao

Dr. William Yao is passionate about creating a lasting and positive change in his patients’ life by giving them a beautiful smile that they are excited to share with the world. What excites him most is that he is able to improve another person’s confidence and health with the work that he does, and to be able to do it as part of a team is just icing on the cake.

Dr. Yao appreciates that his patients have the confidence in his abilities to trust him with their smiles, and especially in parents who allow him to work on their children, knowing fully that he has their childrens’ best interest at heart. Working with so many unique people everyday keeps his life and his work interesting and fun. For Dr. Yao, practicing orthodontics is fulfilling and it has a positive impact on the world around him.

Through continuing education and ongoing training, Dr. Yao is assured to continue to deliver the highest level of scientific basis for orthodontic care. He is involved in numerous CE activities through local and national study clubs and is active in the greater orthodontic community through several professional organizations.

Outside the Office

Dr. Yao is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and grew up in San Diego. He has lived in the South Bay area of Santa Clara County for the past ten years with his wife, Dana. They have a son, Elias, and a 3 month old baby girl, Tessa Marie. When he’s not spending time with his family, Dr. Yao can be found surfing, golfing, playing tennis and basketball, and playing blues guitar. As an active participant in his community, he has taken dental missions abroad and worked in free dental clinics that provide service for populations in need.
